Typical Day at Camp

Warm-up – 10-15 mins

Warm-up will depend on the group whether we warm up as a group or individually. For more advanced groups we will have them warm up individually since they know what they need to do in order to be ready to play but for less advanced groups we will go through a series of running drills and stretches aimed at preparing them for the training session.

Guided Warm-up – Jogging a few times back and forth, high knees, side shuffle, karaoke, butt kickers, inside/outside/leg kicks, 1-2 sprints then stretch

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speed Drills – 10-15 mins

Speed Drills will include and focus on fast footwork and explosion. It will be ladder work, bungee work and regular sprints/agilities.  Speed work is useful because the faster and more agile you are on the field the quicker you are able to close down an attacker or beat a defender.

Ladder Drills – 2 feet in each space, 1 foot in each space, side shuffles both feet in each space, one foot in and one foot out and other drills that will be explained by example before performed by the players.

Bungee Work – one player runs in the bungee and the other player runs behind. The person in the bungee is working on resistance training.

Regular Springs/Agilities – These are a variety of different drills that will work on explosion, change of direction and change of pace. Different lengths and position of cones will be utilized.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Individual Skills – 15-30 mins

We will work on individual work with the ball for this period. Drills will include a variety of ball work and dribbling exercises. This work is essential for situations on the field where you need to take on and beat a defender as well as first touch setting yourself up for success with the next touch.

Drill examples – Shuffles and single foot touch drills in place and dribbling in a grid, Cuts including shuffle cuts, stopovers and scissors and combinations of these dribble moves.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Small Sided Skills – 15-30 mins

These will work on 1 v 1, 2 v 2 and other small sided activities. They will be more game like situations working on general knowledge of what to do in a game during these situations. Games include traditional 1 v 1, 2 v 2 and 3 v 3 sessions with coaching tips offensively and defensively, as well as 2 v 1 and 2 v 3 offensive and defensive situations. Other activities will include passing drills and games meant to focus on precise passing techniques.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total Time – 55-95 mins

This is how a typical camp will be conducted. If a team is interested in signing up and has specific requests (for example focused training on certain skills, certain training time or location, etc.) This can be negotiated.
